I have a couple similar sets with the same haze on the coins from the plastic. Has anyone had luck removing that haze with acetone?

@tk the haze on some of the coins can SOMETIMES be dealt with in a successful fashion but usually not. I am sure that some of the plastic in certain years had contaminates ( sort of a PVC type of Material). Best to steer clear and pick an attractive set if you can.

I picked up a 1966 set from a particular seller on ebay and the coins were just stunning proof coins with perfect cameo finish. He listed a 1965 and a 1967 for very good prices and I grabbed those, but these came in yellowing plastic and the coins have a bit of buildup on them. A little disappointing after the first set. Although the 1967 dime and quarter have some pretty attractive brown toning around the rim, so that's not too bad.
