The bank teller calls me and says they think I should come down today... I ask if there's a problem with my account.. no.. but they have just received some older notes and a few coin rolls.... I get there to see this.... The nickle roll actually has about 15 cents more than it should ... they're from the 30's to the 60's ... And on the two pennie rolls .. one has an early QEII on both ends the other has a George VI on one end... ... All excited to sit down and really go through this lot.. and my better half suggest it will be much more enjoyable to do in a basement that is complete of renovations... *Sigh* fine dear! Basement now has been fully drywalled... on to taping! Today was a REALLY good day!

I wouldn't know what to do with the banknotes even if they were from the United States. I would definitely look through the rolls in the parking lot if my bank called me like that.

The banknotes really aren't that special.. with the exception that they would be sent off to be destroyed... So I keep 'em... perhaps in 40 years I will have a little table at a flee market that will spark a kids interest.. I dunno.. just don't like the thought of them being destroyed... so they go into my "rescued" pile...

You're lucky Ag! I asked one of the tellers how often they get old notes. She said maybe once every six months, and that's only the bird one. I asked about the older ones, and she said she's worked in that branch for four years and never saw any older (because this is right in the middle of downtown Toronto?). And she said even if they get it they'll have to immediately ship it out and can't put it back to circulation...
I notice you also got a nice fiver. Are you still in for the trade?

No banks ever seem to call me, I don't know why... I told them to if they got anything older and they never did. The lady at the admin office at the mall said that when the charity comes to get the coins from the fountain she would call me and they never did. Nothing but frustration!

The photo lacks a LOT of details.. that $5 is in pretty poor condition... so Slur.. I'm still up for the trade... sorry just with all the other things going on... reno's and a whole slew of other things.. I just haven't had any time to break out the coins...
So if you sell the $5's that's okay... otherwise I think I may be able to break out the coins again over the holiday break ... and we'll work something out...
Arianzo: hahah just don't tell my wife! I'm kidding... but I have developed a pretty good relationship with some of the commercial tellers in my city.. this was a pretty good haul...
Normic: I think it all depends on which day you show up and what they have.... just keep trying

My boyfriend gets totally jealous about my relationship with my main bank teller. He comes into the bank with me and thinks she's being too flirty lol.
Maybe I'm not flirting enough with them.

As the teller was counting this all out she says.. "so is this worth anything"
My immediate response was .. "Ohh YEAH! there's about $425,000 here!! This is GREAT!" ... the look on their faces is priceless....
I then go on to say.. "no it's pretty much all worth just face value but I can't stand to think that this stuff will get sent off to be destroyed

Nice Customer service from your bank. As a shareholder in the Royal, Scotia and TD, I;m always interested in positive, or negative experiences from your bankers.

What an awesome score and great relationship with your bank! At my bank, I'd never get such customer service....I'm lucky if the teller even speaks English.

Nice teller you have Ag
I used to have a bank that was a smaller bank with only 3 branches and were the kind that knew you by name etc. One day she called me and asked if I wanted some rolls. I went and got several rolls of V nickles and Buffalos plus silver coins etc. that were cashed by a older customer.
When the big banks take over the small banks the service isn't as friendly. They end up as Bank of America etc. I don't that that service now.
