I'd need to see the reverse of the 1889-O, but the MS grades are plain ridiculous. I'm a market maker for those in 63, let me tell you.

HEY RUSS../ its terrible that the population of graded coins VS the coins not graded then submitted will crash the known population and VALUE of those said coins so they will be diminished in grade when submitted...hence they will tend to down grade those ungraded coins
so they will not rock the VALUE of published "KNOWN POPULATIONS" grades
which influence the value of available "KNOWN"coins at that "GRADE" in the market place.......This is why so many try to re-grade "the old green holders" pcgs, as supposidly. they were under graded...but as the grading changes due to the "DOLLAR VALUE" back then they had far more chatter ECT... and put them into "GRADED HOLDERS" lockinging them into some kind of POSITIVE VALUE....by which many are investment holders.....
those investment holders only care about the STAMP from PCGS of the grade.......after 18 BILLION in grade accessments...new influx grades of preceious years or of coinditional rarity...meaning or some years
MS 65 GRADES for like in the 1881-s is a COMMON STRIKE...New coin submittles will not effect the3 current market price as there are so many...
yet for many such as Russ's coin....this coin IS TO CLEAN for the year...
TIT FOR TAT...... SO one can say...88-o's always are known for poor strikes..... and they are consistently graded for lack of detail and they do get the MS 65 GRADE....but they do...
I...having collected for, crap since 1962? to now? I don't want to know but I will tell you there are FAR MORE over graded coins....within the system...that will effect the POPULATION VALUES
than a true coin.IF THEY WOULD VALUE IT AS ITS OWN...condition.
not on the markets ACCEPTENCE TO THE BIG LEAGE OF VALUE....

RUSS my friend....thats an acceptional coin...played by the market and by who will let it go to the upper limits.......
They cheated you........I'm behind you........ Gene

Yeah, there is that fantastic PCGS grading everyone must pay so much more for. Pfftttt.

I would say what they did to you on those grades, but that is not family friendly.
