Hi Chuck! The copper colored Yen is similar to what I have but I'm not sure it's an exact match. I could be wrong though... I'll have to dig it out of the "junk box", because it's been a while since I've looked at it. Give me a few days and I'll get back with you!

Ill be checkin back here everyday so it will be nice to hear Rachel.

I found a site where you can find the year of the coin. It has a pdf download so you will need adobe acrobat to read it. Which I do not have as of right now. It tells you how to read the symbols on the Japanese coins so here it is. hope its useful.

Ooops- forgot to dig out the coin! Thanks for the reminder, will get around to it soon! Found half a 2003 cent in a roll of quarters today, don't know if that counts as a find but it sure was unexpected!

Susan, Bobby or Mike:

Just a thought.

I realize you have to draw the line somewhere on "stickies" or the entire first page of threads would be nothing but stickies.

However, several months ago somebody suggested that perhaps "Interesting finds from circulation..." might be a good thread to make into a sticky.

What do you think?

i dont know if you would consider it in circulation but I was at the mall today and noticed they put in a quarter machine that gives out coins from different countries and I put my last quarter in it and it popped out a 1964 canadian cent which is different than all my other canadians. I also found a full red 1969 penny in change at the gas station :-)

I was walking home from uni and found a hong kong 2 dollar coin dated 1997 in the middle of the street, what are the odds of that happening?

Not exactly from circulation but on the road so close enough.

grendlefreak, they are fairly interesting odds, maybe 1 million to 1?

Hey Grendel, I wonder if you walk the same way my brother does. He found a USA 1999 D dime for me in the street this morning. Pretty close to unc, too, except for a huge ding where it must have hit the ground.

Maybe there's someone living near the uni who's flinging foreign coins out the window...

Half a 2003 cent? Was it cut in half or just minted on half. Either way it's worth half a cent. LOL

Sap, finding a US dime in Australia is interesting.

I also have something that sort of defies the odds. I hardly ever find a Wheat cent, but came across a 1918P Lincoln Cent, maybe good condition. What makes it really strange is that it's the second one I've found.
