Probably a five CENTS (should have a little "C" after the 5) My guess it's dated before 1983.

I was given a NZ $2 coin instead of $1 coin a few days back.
Same size just completly different design on the coin. It was in good condition so I didn't say anything.
First time this has ever happened to me. I always get the 20C and 10C pieces.

Grendelfreak,
I just noticed your avatar and I'm wondering what coin that is? My son and I went to our first coin show a few weeks ago and they had a "grab bag" for children under 12, where they reached into a bucket and pulled out as many coins as they could hold.
Well, one of the coins my son got looks exactly like your avatar, has an 1896 date on it, and says "One Penny". The other side has a bust of Victoria Dei Gra Britt Regina FED DEF IND.
I can upload it if you'd like, but any light you can shed on the coin would be greatly appreciated!
Shawn
What I have is a 1906 British penny, its probably worthless considering the condition its in, but it is a coin I've had for a long time (relatively speaking). IIRC the front has Brittania while the other side on mine is Edward VII, the successor to Victoria
I have some similar to that but almost unreadble but there again one of them is dated 1754! but am debating weather its a penny or a half penny or perhaps its neither I have some farthings aswell and they are smaller and I have one coin smaller than the farthing again not too sure what it is but they all have the britania on them.. I will have to post pics..[:p] as for what I get in change.. the last finding I found was an american quater of a dollar :) and I do keep finding coins which are from balwick of jersey or gurnsey and isle of man coins :)

I had a good day today! Six wheat cents, nothing special on the dates but one was a 1944 with a good amount of red left and all wheat ear lines visible, a 1945-P silver nickel, a 1964-D silver quarter, and my first Nebraska quarter (I'm a little behind). I spent the day bagging up the loose coin in the vault to relieve some of the stress of our new operating system at the bank. It's awful and only works half the time, so if anyone's been wondering where I've been lately it's because I'm a semi-awake vegetable by the time I leave work and can barely remember my name...
