Dewey:

No problem in my town regarding rolls of coins. The two largest banks, plus my credit union, make rolls available, and then gladly take them back when I bring them in.

Hope that positive attitude on their part continues.

Liberia. One cent. 1984.

Given to me today as change at a convenience store.

About the size of a U.S. Lincoln Cent.

I will toss it in with some other foreign coins and mail it, and them, to ndgoflo as part of a trade we are conducting.

I found an awsome 1993 pennie, with die cracks all over the obverse, and litle chips along the cracks every once in a while, really a very nice peice, looked as if the die was soon to break!

Ok...now this one is the BEST FIND I have EVER COME ACROSS!!!!

Me thinks I need some help from them folks that call themselves the Aussies... (grabs a horn and blows a few 'cavlary notes').

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok...can't get a shot of it right now, but will soon.

Description:

1987 silver-colored coin. About the size of a US penny. Has a portrait of Elizabeth II on the obverse and a pitcure of what looks like a platypus (sp?) on the reverse. There is also a "5" going through part of the plat's bill....btw, cute little creature.
This coin is in what I would consider to be a VERY HIGH GRADE....especially for a coin that's made this far of a journey (found in Cartersville, Georgia, USA).

CAN SOMEONE HELP?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Edit: Also...we've been finding ALOT of 1970-S nickels in circulation recently...any clue as to why? (Other than the obvious being that someone has raided a collection.)

GettinIT2gether: that sounds like an Australian 5¢ coin; the animal in question is an echidna, or spiny anteater (related to the platypus, in that they're both monotremes: egg-laying mammals.)

I agree. It's an Aussie Echidna, 5 cent coin. 1987 had a mintage of 73,500,000.
The coin was made at the Royal Australian Mint in Camberra. It is 75% copper and 25% nickel. size 19.41mm weight 2.83 grams.
Obverse designed by Raphael Maklouf and the Reverse was designed by Stuart Devlin.
