Someone on the MNB reported the latest sales figure to be 42,109 which means another 7,891 should still be available - theoretically... I assume the US Mint retained some for mail order customers and perhaps a few for returns, although unlikely (haven't see any reports of really badly struck Sacs). I'm a little surprised at the relatively low figure - last week the number was 14,073, which means that roughly 28k sets were sold last week. I think the mint would do well to introduce a household limit for the last batch, but I doubt it...

I received three of the sets, and two of them are 'baggy' on the face. I am keeping them, though. Exchanging likely isn't an option with this series, and I would probably just end up with coins in similar condition even if I could. I guess regardless of how the planchets and dies have been specially prepared, there still isn't enough striking pressure to eliminate bag marks and other imperfections. They are after all,'uncirculated' coins (albeit with the enhancement).

I was told this morning that they were sold out. I've had 1 processing since December 3rd and it still is. She said I wouldn't be getting mine.

Quote:I called the mint this morning about my order being in processing and the lady told me that the mint wasn't getting anymore. I ordered mine December 3rd so I guess I'll pick 1 up on ebay. Read the previous page: Quote: When you call the 1-800-=USAMINT number you get someone who is very good at dealing with order problems but is quite clueless as to what is actually going on with the product. If you ordered on 12/3 or 12/4 you will get your sets. As of 12/7 they still ahd a tad over 7000 sets to sell Quote: 11/23/2014...2014 AMERICAN $1 COIN & CURRENCY SET...9,720.....That's +9,720 units over the previous week 11/30/2014...2014 AMERICAN $1 COIN & CURRENCY SET...14,073...That's +4,353 units over the previous week 12/7/2014.....2014 AMERICAN $1 COIN & CURRENCY SET...42,109...That's +28,036 units over the previous week The 42,109 total sold is 4 days AFTER your order was placed

It sounds to me the mint is producing these sets in multiple batches and not all at once. There was at least one comment from someone from the mint that given the interest among collectors (DUH!) they will produce the whole 50k. The question now is, shouldn't it be possible to tell which batch the set is from based on the serial number of the $1 note? I saw multiple reports of sequential numbers in sets and, in theory, these numbers should correspond to early/late production of the sets. Perhaps someone with early/late orders could post a few serial numbers?

My day 2 order of 5 all were around 05698751
More coming today but I don't see any relation with serial numbers and order times. Quote: Its official on mine ..I called again and the guy said they were sold out. As I said multiple times...they are clueless....there are 7000+ sets left to be ordered...minor detail I know but the site does NOT say "sold out"

I bought one set as an after thought while ordering other items. I wish I bought more.

You can still buy more, there are 7 K left. You just need to be alert the next time they go on sale. I would guess the next window to be open an hour before they actually sell out.

Even though there are 7K remaining in the mintage figures, that doesn't mean the Mint will make them available. The Mint has stopped short of a coin's maximum mintage on many occasions. I would be very surprised (and happy) if the Mint brought this set back.

Already these are selling for $30-35 a set on ebay. I could sell one of the two I ordered and recoup my expenses in one auction...but I won't. :) I am tempted to submit one of my sets to NGC for grading, just to get that special designation for the early release. Still debating on if it is worth the cost of slabbing/grading.

I assume I'm not only one waiting for a FedEx Smartpost from Southaven, MS? My sets should have been here in Indy this Monday, but all the tracking says is "No estimated delivery date available at this time." Useless...

Two things: 1) FedEx "smart"post takes a week during the slow periods...no clue how long during Xmas rush...and it will be delivered by the Post Office 2) a weird note and correction from the numbers I posted that were actually taken from another source....the numbers on the Mint site says: Quote: Special Collectibles TA9 2014 AMERICAN $1 COIN & CURRENCY SET 38,299 N ..not 42k sold so maybe there are 12k left instead of 7k...this set sale just continues to be weird...
