I have no clue as to what's going on. And it seems customer service doesn't either. I called again and asked why yesterday's order was shipped but my previous order now says back order. This time I was told that he wasn't aware that any of these items had been shipped as they haven't been in stock. I explained I had a tracking number and he checked and said he sees where the shipping label was being made, and maybe they got some in that he wasn't aware of, but he saw nothing that shows they had been in stock. I'm beginning to wonder if the orders placed on the 4th are going to be filled. I don't understand why orders placed yesterday are being shipped but orders from the 4th aren't. Unless it's a glitch in the system, but I've never had an order say shipped when it wasn't. The great service with ordering the Kennedy halves sure didn't last long!

I'm having the same problem I placed my order on the 3rd and it still says processing I called the mint and they said they were out and wouldn't have anymore. So I called back the next day and they said my order was on backorder and I would get it. So I look the next day and its still processing I call back and they say they have no record of my order . Long story short I ordered 1 off ebay. Who knows they may ship my order 1 of these days.

The Mint could be using a prioritizing system to distribute this set. I place my first order for this set on 11/21/14. Then clicked on the 'Remind Me' button when it was available. And I had no problem ordering the remainder of my sets yesterday.

As of 12/7/14 the Mint has sold 38,299 sets, still 11K+ sets shy of the mintage limit.

I think the Mint was thrown off-guard with the popularity of this set.

Is this the first NGC SP70 that has been reported?

Still available to order....limit 5 and backordered

..and omxfl: thanks for posting that NGC slab. That is the 1st one I have heard of and the 1st non-proof SAC given grade of 70 by NGC in the 14 years of minting the coins.

I've got 16 being graded now...fingers crossed

Yes, this coin was from a bulk submission of 64 by the looks of it.
Someone on the MNB went to the NGC website and checked the submissions. I just did the same:

SP70:
3895439-001
3895439-002
3895439-003

And
3895439-004 to -064
appear all to be SP69 (tried a few numbers randomly).

I assume the submitter set the minimum grade to 69 and had all other returned ungraded.

Still, I'm not overly convinced that this is really a PERFECT coin:

There appears to be a rim ding on the reverse (around 7pm).
Also, the strike isn't that well centered either, it appears slightly towards the right.

Still available...!

But thanks to the household limit sales on ebay have not dropped (just) yet. In fact, there were several bundles sold and presumably to dealers over the last few days alone:
$27/set - Dec11: 20 for $540 delivered
$28.78/set - Dec11: 26 for $739.83+$8.51 p&p
$27/set - Dec12: 25 for $675.01 delivered
$24/set - Dec12: 25 for $600 delivered (5 lots of 25 each sold!)
$26.44/set - Dec12: 25 for $661 delivered
$25.80/set - Dec12: 25 for $645 delivered
$27/set - Dec12: 25 for $675 delivered
$26.48/set - Dec12: 27 for $715 delivered
$28.60/set - Dec12: 20 for $559+$12.95 p&p

Quite funny really what a household limit can achieve...

One they sellout, the price will go up again for sure, then sure to slowly decline over the next few months to years like all modern rarities do these days...
