Paid about double for my order when you factor in shipping and handling, duties and difference in CDN dollar exchange rate. Not sure that was a smart investment but at least I got some.

My 12/11 order arrived today. Never thought I'd see them, but here they are. So, I opened them, expecting to see some obvious signs that they were shipping out sets that had been previously returned. However, so signs of such, like packaging wear/wrinkles, and no marks on coins or bills. Add that to the fact that the bills are sequential, and I figure they weren't returns. Surprise.

Check out the "Reviews"... LoL They have GOT to be shills! "Already worth more than I paid..." "Perfect gift..." "All the great deals..." Real customers don't talk quite like that, even when they are happy.

This release is a good example of why collectors should look closely at the photos of the product that the mint has on their site, and not just go by the description. You could see "Enhanced Uncirculated" on the package in the photo, even though the mint didn't mention it in their original description. Those who noticed it in the photo weren't clairvoyant and didn't have any inside information, they saw the Enhanced Uncirculated on the package in the photo. I also think the mint should have used the 5 household limit during the initial release, and then, if sales weren't high enough after a few weeks, go to no limit. Just my opinion.

This will remain a issue for a long time. The Mint made a unique finish coin, put that fact on the packaging and somehow that info never got to anyone else...no pre-sale announcement other than making it sound like another blah Pres dollar type cover package with a dollar rebate attached. Nothing on the order page itself... The designer, die maker, package designer, all knew what they were going to sell. no mint official ever communicated that to the webpage people and to the coin news sites. It was only AFTER sales started that someone was made aware of the disconnect and then sales were halted, HH limits attached, and the hourly windows of availability started. In retrospect, an eagle eye speculator could have easily cornered the market on these unique coins.... 2014 coin event of the year.. Edited to add: last 3 raw sales $50, $49, $55 and a sealed box of 10 sold for $650

I don't understand why you suspect foul play. It is an error and the only one found (so far)...certified by a decent TPG...thus the huge sale price. I won't say that it is worth the sale price but obviously someone felt it was...
