Check wikipedia for "Dominion of Canada" for a full if somewhat complicated explanation.

Official Name is and has been " Canada " since the Confederation of July 1867, the title name was "Dominion of Canada".
Sort of like Smith is your name and you are addressed as Mr. Smith .
However to our American Cousins we are simply the 51st state! Have a great day everyone !

pacific, don't' you wish?
Just think, everything would be so simple...
cheap gas, cheap oil, cheap cars, cheap travel, tropical islands without going through a border,
low cost, efficient and reliable postal system, lower income taxes, No Stephan H. or Christy whats her name in your city, and most important: NO RCM!!
life could be good...

Mark me down as an incredibly happy Canadian , proud to call this country home. Just think if we lived in the US, we could all have guns, expensive health care , Homeland security, oppressive tax regimes compliments of the IRS, paranoia, Obama, and Hilary Clinton. Life would be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad! ,

At least it's a Free Dominion. The nation was a Dominion prior to confederation from my understanding.

I certainly didn't take it as sarcasm....

Look I'll be the first to say that our neighbours to the south of us are absolutely fantastic.. I love the people, the cultures, the geography...

But I love this country just a little bit more... the day that changes... will be the day I move.... which makes me think there must be a reason why so many people come to Canada... it`s a pretty darn good place to be...
