I carried an ASE around for quite some time, and managed to lose or misplace it. So, got another one -- a 2000, and carry that around. Just recently received three Australian pre decimal pennies from Gregk, and am thinking about making the George V penny another pocket piece. Will probably end up keeping the Australian penny safe, and carrying the ASE around.

I carry an ASE around with me most of the time. It had a nasty gouge out of it when I got it so it wasn't going to have much value otherwise. I'd toyed with the idea of a pocketpiece for a while and decided rather than hassle with returning it I'd just tote it around. It's started some good conversations when people ask me about collecting coins, it almost always makes a good impression. People seem to think "coin collecting, what a dork" and then when they get it in their hands they seem to understand a little more.

I carry an Adams dollar that has obtained the same coloration as 50cents' GW. I know that it's possible to wear a coin smooth but it takes many many years. My dad has a silver JFK half that he has carried for the better part of 20-25 years, everyday, and it is just a smooth disc at this point.

Interesting story CP. Carry the same half dollar for 25 years = smooth disc. Now if you wanted to accelerate the process, how would you do it?
Toss it, drop, hold it, rub it, pick it up, put it down, after 1 year = one smooth disc?
I can wear out that coin in 10 months! Okay, wear it out!!
Weird stuff, interesting though.

I carry an 1840 large cent. It's in G-4 and cleaned, but makes a good conversation piece.

I remember in the 70s I was at a Mets game with my father and a guy pulled out his money to pay for a hotdog. One of the coins in his hand was a Walking Liberty half. Must have been a pocket piece, because he didn't want to sell it to us.

I have a GW dollar that I got when I picked up my first roll from a bank. I liked the bag mark above George's eye - now that's one tough looking president !
