LOW MINTAGE NUMBERS MEAN NOTHING
let that thought be impressed in ones mind. Low mintage means nothing if there is zero demand. I have cataloged countless coins with low mintage numbers of several hundreds and they are huge busts in the secondary market, even when they are graded.

While true for a coin with no interest, its not true for a coin that has the same amount of interest as a higher mintage coin.

example , a 7500 mintage coin that has lots of interest on release but since the mintage is quite high the demand drops over time and then forgotten since there are tons remaining on the secondary market that sellers want to get rid of.

A coin with say 500 mintage that has the same demand on release as above 7500 mintage coin has a better chance of holding and increasing in value then the 7500 mintage coin since there was only 500 minted and not many remaining on the secondary market.

But your correct , even a 500 mintage coin with no demand is a dud.

We shall see when the RCM offers the special exclusive coin to super mc members, and depending on how many of these mc take them up on the offer, if you continue to issue a coin a day, no market can absorb such amounts.

Most mc got a email regarding at certain Canada Post main outlets, the purchases go towards your mc, but really who cares, looks like the RCM is desperate and grasping at straws.

That's true....but even let's say I would be interested in some extremely nice and possibly "hit" coin - do not see myself driving to downtown to specific CP instead of ordering via RCM, or local CP (without points).

Did not get any such e-mail - again my rep sucks - but could one of you let me know if any of these special MC outlets are in Ottawa?

I might be more inclined to purchase (though probably not) if I didn't have to wait two months for a coin to be delivered from the Mint.....still hoping that the Sp Ed Flanders dollar arrives before the 11th.

BTW, CC&C holding a "Remembrance Day Sale" is disrespectful. Apparently they don't follow the news. Other retailers have been blasted for this sort of thing in the past and I hope CC&C get the message.

There was only 4 Canada Post locations 2 in Toronto, Mississauga and 1 in Edmonton, probably some kind of trial basic. Special days like November 11 should be left alone for it's main purpose to remember.

Ok thanks. I guess maybe this is kind of like expanding the Mint boutiques to cities that don't already have them.

Got this from the other forum

Quote:
HOT! Found that RCM is having another 'promo'. Buy over 200+ (1 piece of 200 for 200 will do) and get a free 2015 Holiday gift set worth 19.95. With another 2% cashback(USD) from SwagBuck, earn about 20% instant profit!

Here's the link for the holiday gift set: http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/holid....Vjyudpc0NCE

It will be automatically add to your order upon check out.

tips for those that wants to take full advantage of this promotion (if you decide to buy multiple $200 for $200). Split up your order. This way you get multiple gifts. You get a Gift when you spend $200 or more. even if you spend $500, you only get one gift where as if you split your order into multiple of $200, you get extra gifts per over $200 order.

Thanks a lot, Lostwords!

But will not be easy to find, what to do with that Holiday set. It always possible to sell it, people might agree to buy this for CAD 10-15.

well, this deal is only ideal if
1. You want to keep these $200 for $200 coin or what ever you purchased or have ways to liquidate it
2. Have an actual use for the gift sets.

else it really NOT much of a deal.

I purchased it because I can bring the $200 for $200 coin to my bank and deposit them and I use the holiday coin set to give out as gifts. So I don't loose anything and gain a free gift to give out as Christmas Gift and earn 1% cash back from my credit card ($2) and 2% cashback at SB (which pretty much cover for gas and time to bring the coin to the bank to deposit)

Yes, agree with this.

What I have discovered:
Unless they are in the collecting hobby, little kids have no interest in the coins. The coin (doesn't meter which theme) will trigger their excitement for 1 hour maximum, and after they will forget about it, till next reminder.

The little boys like:
Pokemon, Lego, cars / trains, cartoons, games
any coins and coin sets - they do not care.

2 interesting news come from The Coin Shoppe:

Burning Maple:

Has happened what supposed to be happen:
smart guys from the "third party" enhanced another batch of the "Silver Maple Leaf" coins (yes, another "500 only"), this time, it was done for the 2014-dated coins.
The Coin Shoppe has it for
CAD 129 only

still too much for bullion coin.

2015 Remembrance Poppy mixed rolls

As a **PROMO** , The Coin Shoppe offers for each one Numismatic RCM item, to get one mixed roll for CAD 10.
All the orders, that will be submitted without following this rule, will be cancelled.
