Interesting the RCM is continuing its cyber Monday sale on world coins. The 1st 3d bird coin is now $90 instead of $139. A new marketing technique for the mint.

"A new marketing technique for the mint."

Not at all. They've been promoting other world mint coins for sometime.

Even at their discount wonder what their profit margins are for them? Or, perhaps they over bought and have to take a lose. :)

one day in the future we will all be saying- "god remember when (insert you dealer here) was selling those (insert a horrible price depressed RCM NcLT coin here) for X dollars? I could have bought 20 of them!!

One day we will be saying that lol.

for now tho, it looks really bad for collectors in a sense that they get hosed on their purchases.

Good discount find, Yingyang

Need to be very careful with commissioned coins. Some of them just will "crash".

Btw, although these deals are good, doesn't worth in this case to spend a money on the bulk order...better to find each of the coins in separate for CDN 40 - 50.

Sorry for using this thread, but this is what I thought for just now:
I ready to sell "Eagle : Return from the Hunt" in OGP and Mint condition for CAD 40+shipping
(have Pacific Rim coin and like it more)

It's just a matter of time before they all play the discount game . They will have to or be stuck with their inventory.

Posted this year on Disney Mattel die-cast cars forum:

i just feel bad for those who have spent so much money getting caught up in the "investment" hype. here's another classic example that disney/mattel will continue to re-release cars which were thought to be of great value.

Everywhere is the same, overflooding.
Of cause some items gained in price and keep the high value, but this is not the reason to spend big money for these purchases, discounted or not.

Nowadays, I am very prudent to by NCLT from the Mint. Anything I buy could make me lose money, even there is a huge discount on those coins. Hope the Mint will change other marketing strategy one day.

I feel bad for those people that bought the gold Looney Tune Coin at issue price because Colonial Acres is selling it for $599 today.

http://www.colonialacres.com/produc...rike-through

That's a drop of 25% in a few months.

RCM products are going the way of sports card boom in the early 1990s. They overproduced them to the point they became worthless.

Here a reason to wait to buy NCLT

Actually, those are reasons NOT to buy at all. Why buy any RCM coin when it is going to lose value in a few short months.

I stopped buying RCM coins for the most part for that reason. The only RCM coins I buy on a regular basis are the x for x coins to maintain MC status. If they get rid of that program I would no longer be a MC member.

The only coins I bought recently was the Black Friday special. It was too good a deal to pass up.
