The dealer was buying the coin for 7200$ but was only going to give you $6200? Sounds a little bit deceptive to me.
Maybe your coin dealer might have been a shady car dealer in an earlier life.
Around here if a dealer offers you "x" dollars for something, you receive "x" dollars when you walk out of the shop. Dealers need to factor their costs into their offers before speaking numbers.
My opinion.

Yeah I agree. It went down like this. I walked in and asked if he was interested or knew someone that might be. He says "let me make a call" he gets off the phone and says " he offered $7200 but I get $1000 for bringing you the buyer". He was very polite and up front but I do agree, he should have just said "I can get you $6200"

You may want to have moderator consider moving the thread to the promotions area. I don't think promoting the auction is appropriate in this category.

That might have been a thought twenty pages and fifteen thousand reads ago, but this is probably the 2014 dig of the year and the entire story has unfolded in this thread. Heck, we've been discussing the auction alone for days. I think it's done been promoted. Gate open, horses gone.

OK Dave, I thought it might be beneficial to the OP, but I have no skin in the game.

Well, yeah, looked at from strict objectivity it's a blatant violation of our rules and not an exception easily made. But the whole story played out right here in this thread, and the disposition is the continuation of the story. Under the circumstances you have to let it ride.

Quote: The major grading services will be at the FUN show in Florida (I think Orlando) and Long Beach, CA next month. If you are near those locations I would suggest that you take the coin directly to PCGS or NGC rather than worry about it getting lost in the mail. For a coin of that price if it were me I would pay the higher fee for the walk-through service. Even if I didn't live near either of those locations for a coin like this I might just take a few days off and travel! I agree, I would be afraid of that being lost or stolen in the mail. If you send it out make sure it is sent registered mail only with $10,000 worth or insurance. USPS likes to dispute insurance claims on coins over technicalities and will send you a check for the max $15 if they lose it. Best to avoid them altogether in these cases.

A third bidder bumped it up a couple of hundred.
18 people tracking this auction. It should erupt within the last minute like most auctions do.

Plenty of time before the auction end, hopefully is the result you'd been expecting.
Best of luck!

Quote: looked at from strict objectivity it's a blatant violation of our rules Frankly, I would have stuck with that. YouTube channel, TV show, auction... interesting thread meets slick promo. Hard to decide.
