Hey guys, I just picked this up at my LCS today and at the time it seemed like an awesome deal but now I'mkinda wondering if its not such a great deal because of the scratches. I don't really care too much because I'm trying to put together an inexpensive Peace dollar set and this will work as a placeholder but do you think it was worth the 60 bucks paid? thanks guys

I'm very picky and fairly cheap which is not a great combo so I would have passed right by it at half that price, not trying to put ya down just giving my opinion, sorry but hey, at least you're not one of the guys on ebay spending several hundred dollars on a fake.
Feel free to call me Will.

hmm oh well I guess you live and learn. Ive just been seeing stupid prices on 1921's on ebay lately and got a little too excited when I saw a reasonably priced one.

I think you did ok. call me crazy, but I think it will look good in your collection. I don't find the scratches that detracting. If it was a vg grade or lower I would have passed, but yours seems to be at least VF maybe even XF.
Just my humble opinion.

I think you got that for a good price. I would be hard pressed to get that coin for $60, even with the obverse scratches.

Thats what I like to hear, thanks for the replies guys. I kept going back and forth but ended up buying it because I kept thinking how all the 21's on ebay that were selling for less than 80-90 dollars looked like they had been eaten up by a lawnmower.

You did fine for $60. That's a fair price.

I think you did just fine at that price. I would have jumped at it also. It is a good honest coin. The scratches are not obnoxious and are what makes this a sixty dollar coin. Without the couple of scratches, this is a $100 coin. This is a key date coin. I have seen a lot worse, go for a lot more.

A readable EF/AU 1921 Peace dollar for $60? This dealer wants your business, man. Buy there. It's a good strike for a 1921, to boot.

You were thinking "Peace Dollar," not "1921 Peace dollar." If it were a 1922 I'd have flogged him too.

You got it. Didn't even see the date. I'd have bought it too. Don't have one.

Speaking of ebay I notice that I have bought a few coins there and the coins were sent to me in a regular envelope with two stamps. No tracking of any kind. No way for anyone to verify if I got the coin or not. This shakes my confidence in good old ebay. There are so many crooks and deceivers on there it hurts the honest sellers. I do buy there for placeholders as you say. I have already been stiffed but ebay fixed the money refund. These idiots send you stuff 4th class mail with no tracking when it is obvious it is a coin. I was a postal employee. Not all are honest that is for sure. They stole so many credit cards the P.I.'s were arresting people every month.

I pretty much just use ebay as a resource now to see what people are willing to pay and to just kill time looking. I'm trying to buy at my LCS now instead.
