I'm looking for a Canadian dealer or auction house that sells Canadian error coins, and has internet presence (website, online auction catalog, etc.). ebay is surprisingly thin on good material, but I'm sure the local market offers better things. I just don't know how to find them. Can people offer recommendations? I hope it's not against the rules to even ask. The rules of these forums are so elaborate that almost everything breaks them.

I think that the moderator for this forum is a good place to start. What he doesn't have, he knows someone who does.

All collects hunt it's the only why to find anything, going to local coin shows in your area will help, if there is a coin club you can get too join it. The last thing you want to do is let a seller know you want a coin the price just jumped, or make the mistake of telling him what he has. Most dealer will miss a lot of stuff because they don't have the time or knowledge you do, and persistence does pay off. Ask you local coin shop who deals in error's they most likely have heard of someone who does.

Hi Strach-Man, just to clarify - I live in Israel. Local shops and shows are fine, but I'm trying to obtain some world coins, and in my experience, prices and availability are better the closer you get to the source. So for Canadian coins, I'm looking for a Canadian dealer or at least someone who deals regularly in Canadian coins. I don't expect to get the best possible bargains that a local guy could get.

George Manz routinely lists errors on his web site (you can find him through a web search). Most dealers don't routinely stock errors.
Did you follow the last Moore Legacy auction (June 2014)? It was chock full of errors. Some of the nicer (and more expensive) stuff is sometimes listed on Heritage auctions.
Most of the best errors I have found - did not come from online purchases.

Thanks for the tips. I wasn't familiar with George Manz or with the Moore Legacy auction. I can't go back in time to June 2014, but the George Manz website looks promising. I do follow Heritage auctions as a viewer, but I haven't yet bought anything from them.
I agree that many of the good purchases are not found online. It's the same for me in my principal collection of Israel error coins. But for a world-wide type of collection, you just can't find the material in your back yard. The internet is the way to go if you want pieces from across the globe.

Are you a member of CONECA? Some error dealers in the US advertise in their journal (Errorscope). For an error collector, this organization is well worth the annual membership fees. It also provides an outlet to publish on some of your errors as well.

yes George Manz is good for prices. But Colonial Acres has some selection too!

Colonial Acres... I've been scratching my head, knowing I heard the name before but couldn't place it. Then I checked my record and found I purchased a coin from them through ebay back in 2001! All was well with that transaction, but apparently that was our only deal ever. I checked their website and they don't have error coins listed, but maybe I'll send them an e-mail and ask. Regarding George Manz, I sent an e-mail asking both about a specific coin listed on the website and about error coins in general. I never received a response, but maybe they are on vacation at this time of the year, Christmas/New Year's Eve, etc. I'll try again in a few days if I don't get a response.

Try TCNCCoins.com they are very involved in auctions and I do believe they have a store also. Hopefully you can find something with them.
