This coin has so many abrasions going every direction. It's crazy. This was a tough one to photograph. Could not get them all in pics.

I've always wondered what they use to polish business strike dies, some have really rough abrasions on them.

Jail clash? I didn't clean it.. if that's what that meant? L I've been seeing so many new terms that I dont know what they mean lately, you might have been saying something else?

Sorry, I think you were talking about the cleanup of the die clash. Still not sure what jail clash is though? New term I couldn't find on google. L that should be my motto "learning one term at a time."

It's where the dies clash and it looks like Lincoln's in jail. (STOCK PHOTO - NOT MINE)

That's an awesome coin. Thank you for the visual explanation. You can see, it matches up pretty well with coin I posted. Too bad they caught the clash on my coin. It's a good visual teaching coin for others anyhow. Thanks again everybody, great info.

Here is an image of what they use during the die making process at the SF mint for proof coins:

Probably the tool in the first image will have a different attachment to remove clash marks when they happen that will remove the unwanted clash.

I have one or two of these prisoner cents. How much are they worth usually? for a 1987 and a 1975?
