Picked up 2 three-piece sets, since they have the lowest mintage at 15k...in hand saturday.

Are the coins in the 3 piece set different from the coins being sold individually?

jhp2104, same coins (the proofs) in a different case. Also, 90 cents cheaper than buying them individually ($473.60 for the set, $474.50 for all individually)

@Coinlover168. Thank you. I got confused when I saw the mintage limit of 15,000. Using the gold proof as an example, its not really a mintage of 15,000 coins since they are minting up to 100,000 gold proof coins.

So that there is no confusion...
The mintage limit for the gold half eagle is 100,000 for the proof and uncirculated versions combined - not individually. So, the 100,000 coins will be divided between individual proof coins, individual uncirculated coins and proof coins in the three-piece proof set.
The same holds true for the clad half dollar (750,000) and silver dollar (500,000). The mintage limits posted on the US Mint web site are for all options combined.

I love the eagle on the gold coin, its a fantastic design, the only distraction is the font they used for the 5.
The silver dollar is nice too. Not so crazy about the 2 ladies on the 1/2. I have seen better ladies on coins, these 2 do not hold up to the rest of the series IMHO.
The Mint store says "sold out" and "out of stock" on various items. Some of these Marshall coins are "out of stock" Does that mean they will be making more and just didn't have enough to fill orders?
And I assume if the mint says "sold out", that means gone forever?

With the silver US Marshal's being "Out of Stock" after 2 days, I feel fortunate to get my order in early on the 29th. and now the commems are en route for next weeks delivery.

Any idea what is up with the out of stock products?
I have not been able to organize my order yet of the proof dollar and half coins. I hope the dollar is not sold out yet.

Quote: Any idea what is up with the out of stock products? I would be very surprised if the full authorized mintage of these coins was sold in the first couple of days after launch. I believe that all of the "Out of Stock" items will be available for sale again in the near future (possible exception is the three-piece proof set). I believe it is a case of the Mint not striking enough coins in its initial production run to handle the first batch of orders. Looks like they got more than they expected! Just my opinion, I have no facts to back it up!

2---3 Piece sets in hand from mint this am, and, 1 "extra" set from ebay, after finding out about the sellout. Thoughts, after perusing coins(VERY hard to photograph!)..1st, the gold..all 3 flawless, IMHO..1/2 Dollar..virtually flawless..thank goodness no irritating small struck through threads..I detest those....$1 Dollar.Good, but..issues on Star..not a prime mirrored surface on both, in the middle..outer edges perfect..not sure if a strike issue, with this portion so high, the pressure sort of "cracked" the metal...if someone gets a Dollar with perfect star, it will be quite a find....the ebay set, which was bought at Long Beach, unsearched, and sold from hotel room, had a massive struck through curve by left elbow, reverse..the seller is swapping it out for a better find, and, has been top-notch with his sales ethics(he easily could have said return the entire set for a refund, in which I would have just bought my own, better coin)...another ebay seller said she had problems with her Dollars in 3 pc sets...whether this continues when singles come in hand, we'll see...my hunch is yes, it will be a LOT of graded 69's, and, very few 70's. I'm sending 4 sets to PCGS for grading, so I can make a perfect(hopefully) PR70 set, and, keeping 1 set in original OGP. PCGS will do a special "3 coin Proof Set" label, for $25.00 extra, and, First strike($18.00)..they will return OGP, if requested, but, you must specify this on submission form. Since there is no way to prove whether a coin came single, and, replaced an actual 3 coin blemished coin, I find odd, and, I think NGC MUST have unopened boxes to do their special label..PCGS does not seem to do this.
