Got my clad proof half today. Still waiting on the proof silver dollar. Why would they want to ship separately? Hmmmm...

Quote: Out of 8 coins, the ONLY one I felt worth keeping was 1 of the UNC Dollar coins. I received 18 coins 2 of each including 2 (3)coin sets I only had 1 proof half with a mark on it. It was a small ding so I decided to keep it. I am Very pleased with all the coins I Only inspected with my eyes

I am very pleased you got nice examples of the coins. If I were only that lucky. It looked as though the dies had worn out already by the time they minted the one's I received. I DO expect A lot when ordering Proofs directly from the mint. In this day and age, with the prices they are charging, they should All be 70's! ( ok, 68-69's ) Glad it worked out for you!

I have alas been asleep at the wheel on this issue ... waiting until tonight to attempt an order for the circulated $1 example.
Order was accepted in 'back order' status by the US Mint web page.
Admit to not having a huge collecting interest in the modern commemorative series ... but for the previous 6 years have endeavored to acquire a circulation strike example of whatever $1 coin was produced.
Actually enjoy the design of this coin ... hopeful that my delay in placing an order does not shut me out.

The coins FIRST struck sit at boxes on pallets at the REAR of the storage area...First orders are pulled from the FRONT boxes, and, thinking is, these coins were struck later, or, last..the Best coins, first strike eds coins, are in that BACK row, first stacked, after first strikes made day 1, so, those who order a little late, and, get a little lucky, get those. A theory, written by those in the mint facilities, and, I believe it..makes sense to me..dies wear out fast on proof coins, with those wretched little streaks inward(die flow lines) starting after the first 200+ strikes..most modern dies for proof coins last 2500-3500 strikes, until repaired, or, thrown away..at least those are the numbers I see bandied about...maybe they have a longer life now.

The logical and simple reason that I failed to realize was that they came from different mints!

I assume you meant the uncirculated (MS) version...there are no circulation strikes It is a great design...and...read the previous posts regarding the remaining 440,000 to be ordered, minted and shipped. I really do not think you will be "shut out" since they will be on sale for all of 2015. Yesterday the present backorder shipping date was 2/10

I received my UNC $1 coin yesterday and for the most point it is gorgeous. Sadly though, there is a nice big ding right smack in the center of the star. I try not to be overly picky but that will annoy me forever so I guess it is back it goes.

What's going on with the white streaks at the top of the uncirculated coins around the word liberty? COINAHOLIC's example has a thick streak between e and r and thins out at the letter t while Commem's example also looks to have a streak around the word liberty. I have the same thing and it bothered me when I received my coins.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

I ordered the two dollars and two half dollars. Some are supposed to ship in a week, some are back ordered until May. The next couple months are going to be hard on the wallet, but great for the U.S. Mint product collections.
