looks like it could be a VAM-10 with the MM set high and tilted to the right, if it is the "8" in the date should show some doubling slightly at top left outside of upper loop and top inside of lower loop
Slanted and out-of-place mint marks are common with Morgan. They were minted in the millions, requiring a hundred or more dies for some issues, and each of those mint marks was punched by hand. When considering that, it's easy to understand the variations in placement.
New Orleans Morgans are fun to grade. This one is somewhere between AU55 and MS63.
No, really. Either AU55 or MS63. Tough to say without it in hand. I also think it's been dipped in the last couple of years, and has just begun to retone. Check inside the reeding - look for little patches of toning about 1/4 inch wide where the tongs kept the dip from penetrating.
