Date Album Purchased: 1976, upgraded a few years ago
Silver / Clad Progress: 73/76
Gold Progress: 0/10
Total Spent to Date: $2500
Favorite Coin in Album: 1858 Liberty Seated Half, Arrows and Rays

I got started when my Dad purchased a collection for me in the 1970's, it contained the "started" 7070 with around 20 or so coins in it.

Still looking for Seated dollars and Reeded Bust Half

Hey CLS12, I have few older 7070 albums floating around in the wasteland my wife refers to as the garage, send me a PM and I will send one out to you. Won't be up to date for anything past about 1979, I think that is when I stopped buying US coin collections from people, which is how I obtained the old albums

I guess I'm an odd ball. I made a 20th century type set a long, long time go and once filled, just put it away. Not much interest in a type set. And a 7070 would be just to much trouble for me. I'm a bit lazy.

Don't put your amount spent to date if you don't want to.
Asking a person how much they paid for something is not appropriate and used to be taboo. Nowadays I see many people mostly the younger collectors violating this unwritten rule and get offended when anyone tells them it is a subject not to be broached. That line "Total Spent to Date:$X,XXX.XX" should not have been included.

Sorry Gyrene7483, I respectfully disagree. I think posting how much you've spent helps not only yourself, by making you keep track, but also let's others know how much to expect to pay, in general, if they were to pursue such an endeavor. If you want to participate, but don't feel comfortable letting anonymous strangers know how much you spent, do so. If you totally object, just ignore this thread altogether. Take care!

Keeping records on a spreadsheet helps you keep track but does not at all let others know what to expect to pay because not everyone fills a 7070 with the same grade level of coins. When I stopped and emptied my 7070 because I was never, ever going to buy the half and large cents to complete it I had over $5,000 in it without a gold page. The lowest grade in the album was AU-53 and all post 1900 coins were MS. All of the circulated coins except the AU-55 1811 Bust half O-104a, the AU-58 1858-O Seated half, and AU-53 1846 Seated dollar were sold and all of the MS coins went into Capital Plastics type set holders.

Everyone has their own preference. They don't have to put what they've spent if they do not want to.

Edit: It is what they want to do not what YOU think, everyone can think with their own minds.

You may have personally spent $800.00 but the coins others have bought you for your album is a much larger amount.
