Further-Example-Of-Radiating-Lines-On-20-P another view of my 20p I think they are a result of the minting and not idle hands as suggested in a reply to my previous post.

I don't know why the outer ring of the middle coin is a different colour.
I am struggling to get a decent picture of the " tree rings " will post it was soon as I do.

A couple of examples of older style 20p's with the same kind of lines. (Ignore the 5p :P )

Strangely enough though, it's more prominent in 20p's...
in fact it may be solely found on 20p's which may indicate another reason for it :-/

(There's a small but vatied selection of circulation error examples on my website...

I love your pictures RED, wish I knew how to do them myself as I have a lot of coins which need documenting.
Thanks for the link to your site, I have been trying to find one with UK modern varieties for a while
you get fruit for that.
Do you have an opinion as to why the 2014 coins contain so many flaws/errors in comparison with previous years ?
Drop in standards or more people checking their change ?
Seems a little odd to me

I should really put some time into documenting and sorting my error coins.
Nice ones get their own capsule (Rotations, good doubled dies, collar errors etc) the rest get chucked into tubs.

I think the reason more are being found is a combination of both more people looking a their change closely
(since the undated 20p, then followed up by the Kew Gardens and of course people looking for the Olympic 50p's)
AND slipping standards at the mint.

Oh and as a side note..... The Doubled Die Kitchener £2 is so prolific on ebay I've had to revise my error search terms to weed it out !!

I did a quick search through my change tubs last night and found several more varieties, a lot of doubling/cud/weak strikes/double stamp dates & letters mainly on 2014 10p/20p/50p's.
One £2 coin in particular has me a little excited as I have yet to encounter it before, it is a 2014 standard type £2 with a die clash on the reverse !
You can see the design with the BR initials visible between 2 of the legs in the inner ring, even the centre piece has some of the cogs visible.
Off to try and get a decent picture
