Thanks for the feedback on the Franc, THQ! It was a pretty cool coin to pull out of the ground. Most people figure that you'll probably find only American coins at a '49er site in Panama (or perhaps colombian coins), however, numerous other nationalities (thousands from Europe alone) also journeyed to California to try their luck. PS- The 1848 American cent is in pretty rough shape, no? Metal detectorists would describe it as "toasted". Is it even worth 1 cent, today?
