I think this guy and the "jar" guy must be related. The people buying these and giving good feedback must just be happy to throw their money away.

The $49 shipping price is a dead giveaway this guy is a con artist trying to chisel people with more money than sense.

Seriously. How much would you bid for this roll?

He's got CCs on each end, and assuming the other 18 coins are actually Morgans, what would you do?

Maybe pay 2x the price of the cheapest MS60 or AU55 CC Morgan, and melt*18?

I'd bid nothing. I defer my chances of winning a BU 1889-cc to someone else.

I'm not naturally lucky.

Someone just spend over 3 Grand on the last roll that sold. Whoops.

But his last few rolls that sold in the thousands all got positive reviews and were from different buyers. Interesting.

Using the logic I outlined above, I would bid about $650 for the roll, and that is being generous.

18*current melt + the cheapest AU55 CC*2.

Of course the thing will probably go for thousands, given the CCs on both ends.

I'm not sure if this is the same seller but someone linked a YouTube video of the owners opening a roll and stacking the coins then sliding them across the table.
They simply have no idea what they are doing.

All things aside, the one CC Morgan is either an 1878 or 1880 rev '78 in other words, not one of the common (82,83 or 84) dates. Beyond that, just another scam.

Dave,

so how would you value the roll given the two end coins and the assumption that the 18 on the inside will be sliders and worth melt?

So is this becoming a trend? Because these scammers can make a lot of money on this, or anyone can for that matter.

@KeivnH, Based on one CC being a rev '78 I would add maybe $200 to your estimate based on AU55. (we can't assume MS now can we)
I'm not sure if the people that bid on these rolls will pick up on the CC rev or not. We can only watch and see what happens.

I am putting in an $850 bid, then. Given the $49 shipping charge () that seems fair.

Of course this thing has 6 days to go and given the "jarring offers" of the past, I am thinking the over/under on the successful bid here is going to be $8-9k

i love these morons who list something, then give you a dissertation on what the carson city mint was, how the dollars were most oft used, etc.......obv does not know much about collecting and is hoping to rope in bidders who will bid on the historical aspect vs the numismatic aspect of it.

I will give him a bit of credit, even has the roll stamped with some carson city bank name on it.

I wonder how long it'll be before someone has the brilliant idea of offering a big jar full of Morgan rolls....

I'm on it LC! I've got plenty of spare 1889 (P) that I can seed with a couple of spare CC's that I can face rev out of course and let the bidding war begin.
