I really like how the number 8 looks like two links of a chain.

As do I. One thing I like about early dated coins is how they show the development of numerals- especially the fours, the lambda-shaped sevens, the seven-like fives and the occasional hourglass-shaped eight.

Yes numisma, the evolution of number shapes is interesting. I have done a little bit of effort on the letter "A" here:

Some day, I'll get around to doing more letters and/or numbers...

Thanks -- with all the Polish/Lithuanian coins, I thought a denar or two might break the monotony.

With that in mind --

Hungary -- 1508 denar:

I hope we can keep moving along.

I can post 1507-1504, and 1502-1501, if required. I wonder if we'll get stuck at 1503 or 1500, before we even reach the 1490s? (I have almost nothing for this thread before 1501.)

With your help, I suspect that we can make it all the way back to 1491, just as was done for both the first and second threads. It seems that one year is a particularly tough year.

Good to see progress over the Holiday.

There may be a speed bump or two, but I have no doubt we will get to 1491 as we have before.

This is my oldest dated denar (I don't have 1504 or 1503).
