IIRC, we used one of my obscure Indian coins to scoot past the 850s roadblock a year or two ago... I know it would be sort of cheating, but we could use some Anastasius I or Kavadh coins to get past this block?

Refresh my memory, why was it cheating? Because it could not be pinned to the exact decade only?

It was a Bengal pala drachm, imitating a type introduced by Vigrahapala, whose rule began in 850. The imitative type persisted in use for well over a century after that. At the time, nobody could produce anything else, so Spence asked me to post it, since it at least *started* in the decade in question.
At any rate, I have two drachms of Kavadh, who ruled during this time frame... I will have to check if any of them fits the bill.

Ah. I guess one that started in the time frame is good. You can no easier prove it was not minted in that decade than you could prove it was.

Orfew's coin on the last page went only 1 year over the decade limit, that should be good enough?

Here is @finn's specific psot in question: http://goccf.com/t/195985&whichpage=42#2254207I guess that I didn't realize at the time that your coin covered more than 10 years as I have been trying very hard to stick by @medieval's original rules since taking over the care and nurture of this thread. Sorry about that.

Bumpety bump...
If this is restarted I think it should eminate from year 1. One thread going backwards and one going forwards given the majority here collect Roman and Greeks which we didn't even get to on this thread.
We are on the cusp of cracking on, once we hit Rome it should be action.
