The series doesn't really have any key dates except the West Point coin, so maybe the lack of a challenge turns off some collectors.

I agree.
I was already building albums for the other modern denominations, it made sense to do this one as well. For the record, it was the last modern sub-dollar denomination Dansco album that I bought.

Cool looking set GR58! I like the look of that album.
I am a little curious about how people knew to hoard the 1955's though. Did they announce the mint numbers the following year and then everyone flocked to hoard them in BU condition rolls?
What are other semi-key dates besides 49-S in the silver series? From what I have looked up it seems that any of the late 40's early 50's "S" dimes may be a bit more valuable as well.

Oh and by the way - how do you guys normally store rolls? I have some air-tites but not enough to put on a whole rolls worth of dimes! Seems like a waste to take them out and put them in the cardboard holders too. Would buying one of those round plastic tube holders be best? I don't know that just leaving them in the paper roll is a good idea (these are not OBW rolls).

I put my dimes in square tubes, then into storage boxes. Boxes hold 20 rolls. $100 face ... then you start another boxes. I buy the boxes and square tubes at Wizard coin supply. If your in coin shops a lot, you might run across BU rolls of Roosevelt dimes. BU rolls of dimes are my number one thing to buy, if I can get them near junk (90%) silver price.

Yes ... by 1955 collectors were watching for low mintage coins. For example, 1950 D nickels were going crazy about then, I seem to remember a roll of 1950 D nickels got up to $1000 by the late 50's early 60's. Also in 1955 the San Francisco mint was closing, collectors were ... watching for anything that might be more valuable. Of course ... just my opinion.

Wow GR58 that's pretty awesome! I can say I am no where near the level where I would be able to fill up a rolled coin storage box but I will strive to get there someday :).
Interesting theory that explains the hoarding situation. As I had posted before I have noticed the same sellers will slowly put up BU rolls one or two at a time (1955-P in particular is a popular one). I had invested in some 1955's since it was the lowest mint year and then I found out about the hoarding! I still like the coins though and don't think getting them at $2 a pop was such a bad deal. It's crazy to think some of these sellers may have had these well back into the 50's when they initially came out. Ah well, like I said dimes are in my price range and I am hoping they go up in value someday (but I still likely won't want to sell, I'd like to keep the collection in the family).
Thanks again for all the replies. I always get a lot of good advice and information here! I can officially say I am addicted to coin collecting :)

I like the look of dirty whole silver so I just completed a set of the silver ones only looking through dealers junk boxers and buying a few at a time. It took me 9 months to get all the dates. They look so nice in their album with each one having its own story. I even have a few impaired proofs I found In there. I'm super sad I finished though but they look good with my circulated mercs.

I am just starting my Rosie dansco.. mainly because I wanted to finally start putting my Mercs into an album so I bought a blank dimes book, the two merc pages and the first two pages for the Rosie album. I'm not terribly interested in doing the clad coins, but I am surprised by how much I like the look of a nearly full dime page.
But dimes were low on my list. Already had dollar, half, quarters, nickels and cent albums before dimes.

Thanks for the heads up on the special silver 2015. How much do you think that two coin set will cost? Where do you buy it?
