Here is more details from auction site and much larger photo.

Bishopric Sede Vacante Patagon 1724 VF20 NGC, Dav. 1583, KM128. Variety with round shield on reverse (although the I think this is oval shield as correctly printed on the slab). Struck upon the death of Bishop George Louis.

From circulation and with a known mintage I think it's a 1937 Fiji florin of which 30,000 were produced.
Overall I think it would be a 1978 Solomon Islands 1c from a Franklin Mint uncirculated set of which 544 were produced.

Being that these very thin things are so easily susceptible to even the slightest external forces, it's hard to image what type of pristine environment it lived in for 150+ years.

...totally awesome w/ cool toning to boot...

What kind of retail value would you put on this one?

Yep, it's already there. Just hit CTRL-F5...

I actually won this off ebay last night. It wasn't really a serious bid since I didn't think I could afford one in this grade, but I bid less than PR65 money and somehow managed to win it.

Two down, three to go...

USA - LIBERIA 1 Cent 1833 - Full Sun Disc Variety (uncataloged) - 4 Known!
American Colonization Society (ACS)- founded in 1816, with chapters in several USA states, but most active in Maryland, NJ and PA. Many very prominent individuals organized and and administered the society, including a US President (Monroe), justices of the Supreme Court, and a US Mint Director. With many freedmen (former slaves) being set free, members of the clergy, politicians and abolitionists wanted to offer the opportunity for these freedmen to return to Africa with the support of the ACS. Thus the ACS had these minted as a fund raiser and awareness campaign. In this effort the USA established the country of Liberia on the west coast of Africa, south of Sierra Leone (which Great Britain colonized for the same purposes). Colver and Harley did the first study of these with hundreds of examples and established 6 varieties. This Full Disc variety was not cataloged because they are the first type to be struck and probably only as presentation pieces, four are currently known with one in the ANS collection.
If you're interested in further information about the ACS and this series go to my Moneta Museum for photos of all varieties and several reference sources for viewing and download.

Since I posted a low mintage ACS issue of 1833 I might as well post another numismatic item authorized by Liberia as part of the Millennium Tribute Series to coins of the United States of America. Perhaps the lowest mintage in the series, the tribute to the Flowing Hair Stella $4 gold piece fits closely with the original at 410 struck. While the original is out of reach for mere mortals, you can occasionally find this Liberian Tribute Stella. I have the full range of Liberian/USA Tribute coins on display, with many surprises, at my Moneta Museum. http://www.moneta-coins.com/photopo....php?cat=663

I showed it to the YN Director of the Omaha Coin Club at our last meeting (and told him I got it for only $150!) and his reaction was priceless: "Who'd you have to go through for that price?!"
