@NumisRob: Very nice! Your set is a very well-preserved example.
A great "junk box" purchase!

Thanks CelticKnot and commems - I got it in a small LCS in Brighton, on the Main Street that goes from the train station to the seafront. I've made quite a few good purchases there. I think it cost me about £3.

@TheInfinityPoint - thanks for posting the big Apollo coin. Saves me the hassle of trying to photograph that beast. @commems - I had of course heard of the USA/Australia set but don't think I've ever seen anyone's photos yet. Can we get a photo of the Australian coin? Is it also curved? It appears to also be colorized?

@CelticKnot: Here you go! Yes, the Australian coin is curved and colorized on the reverse. I did a full post on it here: RAM-USM Joint Set

@commems -- thanks! I like the execution of that coin. I think this is a very tactful use of colorization. It is a bit unusual for us Western Hemisphere denizens to see that view of the planet from space, tho.

@commems: Nice! I thought about getting that set last year haha. But I wasn't sure how shipping would turn out to be. I did visit the Canberra mint back in 2017 on Anzac Day. I was there on a research trip and didn't realize I was there on a holiday too, but the mint was one of the few places open so we checked it out and it was cool. I bought myself the 2017 proof set which is a nice keepsake from that trip.

@TheInfinityPoint: Very nice set!
I've long thought that the coat-of-arms design on the 50-cent coin was special! It looks especially good in proof!

Ah yes, that's a very good question. From ramint.gov.au, "The size of the two dollar was determined after consideration of the needs of the visually impaired community, security considerations, a desire to avoid shaped coins, practical limitations to the diameter and thickness of coins, and to allow for future expansion of Australia's circulating coin array. When introduced, it was necessary to accommodate this new coin with seven existing denominations." Basically they ran out of options because of poor planning hehe.
