I took a look at the set in person yesterday. It's stunning and I really like the antique finish. But upon closer examination, I too also saw some strange dots/marks on the obverse side, particularly near the lettering.

I guess mine was not the only one?

Doesn't look like it yingyang. The one I saw yesterday appeared to be small ticks or dots near the "G" in Regina and the G in DG.
Perhaps it is product of the antiquing process?

More spots. After reading about this had a look at a friends antique coin . Below the chin in the rectangular depression and on the right side of the ear rectangular depression. The obverse looks fine. What do you think ?

When you magnified the picture, yes, they clearly could be observed. But I assume, that in "live" view these spots hardly visible, so I for example would be ok with this, with the fact, that they have been antiqued manually and these spots are consequence of this process.

Sorry to hear about the spots. I've looked at mine several times but I'm going to go over it again under magnification. I wonder how many have those spots. I'd imagine, many will go unnoticed.

@Silveroid, Thanks for your opinion .I value the opinion of the community here and I am sure my friend will be happy to hear. By the way you are correct that looking with the naked eye the spots are not seen. On another note would anyone send these coins for grading and would these spots affect the grade if you could not see them with the naked eye ?

I cant imagine why anyone would want to send these coins for grading. I think they look perfect in the box that they come in. Just my opinion.

One of my grandmother moon mask coins had a huge difference in thickness. I've heard that some of the singing moon masks had the same issue. Has anyone encountered this with their coins?
