I wonder what the Mint will do with coins returned (just like the one above) with scratches, blemishes and imperfections? Sell them as new? Or melt?

Well then the final mintage should definitely be less than 125k as there are definitely some coins that shouldn't be resold.

It would be nice, but I've never heard of them doing that.

So, last update: got my replacement coin in the mail and am VERY happy with it....Pics don't do it justice (obverse lighting makes the cheek look scarred, which it is not).....Just happy to have gotten a decent example....Now I get to wait for the next release....

Patience paid off. Ended up with a NGC 70 (no OGP though) for $250. Still had to pay more than issue but the coin looks flawless to me. With a majority of these grading 70 I don't know how much of a premium this will bring but I'm happy to have one!

Just caught Mike M trying to sell these on CSN. They were Anacs first strike 70's for the Low price of $499.99 plus shipping. "Double as rare as the 1916-D!" I can't believe people fall for this guys scam

Quote: Ended up with a NGC 70 (no OGP though) IMHO,they went waaaaay overboard on the OGP on this one. If you keep your coin in everything that it came with, you've got a half dozen steps to go through just to see your little treasure. Is there significance to the shape of the actual box? It reminds me of a piano case, but don't know if that is related or not.

Does anybody think the mint will sell the rest of these gold dimes or are they done?

Quote: Does anybody think the mint will sell the rest of these gold dimes or are they done? No one knows for sure. Probably not even the mint! It has been said that returns and other back-stock are melted but there still could be "fresh" pieces from cancellations that might be saleable. Quote: Anyone know when the standing liberty gold coins will be release? Or at least an estimate? It would be reasonable to assume the Standing Lib Quarter would be released by Sept. 30 but remember it's a U.S. Gov't agency.

BH1964, thanks for the reply. I read somewhere someone said the mint is holding the gold until the price of gold goes up. That scared me, as a young collector with only a part time job I have to save a while for this. I hope to get a NGC graded SP70 from ebay, hope it won't be too overpriced, any guess on the price?
