Bobby,

I know this topic is kind of old now, but I am new to the forum. I totally agree that you can't buy and sell with one ID, but doesn't promoting 2 ID's encourage shill bidding on one's own coins (or whatever is selling)? I mean, what is going to stop people from using their 2nd ID to bid on their own stuff. It certainly sounds tempting when a Morgan is gettting ready to sell for 9.01 and a seller doesn't want to see it go for that cheap.

Letting people have 2 id's doesn't promote it, dishonest people promote it.

would you need a separate Paypal acct as well?

According to Pay Pal rules you are also allowed to have 2 pay pal accounts as well.

I keep two accounts for a variety of reasons:

One: one I use as a buying account only so that if I need to dispute it does not interfere with my main pay pal account

Two: It provides a "buffer" between my main account and withdrawals sent to my bank account for deposits. I highly recommend this for protection against ID theft. I keep no money in my buying account, and transfer money from my selling account (or accept e-check payments) to my buying account then immediately transfer it to my bank account.

Three: My seller account is a business account (for reduced fees)and my buyer account is a personal account so transfers from one to the other are free of pay pal fees.

I also have two ebay accounts for the very same reason Bobby (although I sometimes bid and forget to log in the correct account to buy) laziness I suppose. I need to be more careful. Thanks for the reminder Bobby.

As far as shill bidding, of course we know it goes on but much less than before. Many of the sellers who used to shill bid have been discovered and "banned" but some still come back (as we know) in a new account. In order to shill bid successfully you need to use a different computer as the IP address will be an indicator that bids came from the same computer. I had a (an ex) friend that used to sell cars and she ALWAYS used shill bidding (she used to ask me to bid on her cars as you need a certain amount of feedback rating to bid high amounts). She had at LEAST 20 user ID's (she is no longer on ebay and has been banned). They ( ebay) also track bank accounts for shill bidding as they MUST try their best to keep the community safe or risk losing MUCH business.

There is one notorious shill bidder I know of who has at least 4 ID's the main ID is "tarheelr" (also sells under pops.coins for individual coins ans "sealed proof sets"). He sells from North Carolina and I have tracked him for years. His closing bids on the "mint sets" he sells get as as much as 100% above what other seller's of the same mint set gets (why?).

He is a "nasty" seller as well, check his response to negative feedback. A VERY insulating person.

By the way a GREAT FREE tool to check a sellers (or any one's) negative and neutral feedback (without having to search hundreds of pages) is toolhaus.org. Check it out. It will list ONLY negative and neutral feedback for any user ID.

Trust me it happens, it happened to Susan, since she is incredibly good at cherry picking ebay. In fact, in the last month or so a new independent service has launched that will follow buyers for you

One more thought Bobby:

If you use a last second bidding tool then they "cherry pickers" cannot follow your bids

I would suggest you need two Paypal accounts too; if you are buying and selling and want to keep transactions separate.
We just upgraded our paypal to allow us to accept payments and they want to take our outging payments out of our PayPal account (incoming payments). Of course, we can strip our Paypal balance before making any payment but you have to have minimum $150 withdrawal to avoid extra fees!
We now have two paypal accounts, linked to different bank accounts. One for selling and one for buying.
