You guys may have also seen this on another forum. I found the original poster who has been a member for 14 years and has almost 10,000 posts at the major grading company forum.

Here's the post from a different poster who sums it up in case you haven't seen it:

"A 14 year member on the other boards, said he talked to a friend that works at NGC (he had originally named the NGC employee, and then edited out the name). Here is what he posted: "NOTE: I received an email from a friend at NGC who indicated to me that they would be recognizing the variety very soon."

The variety being discussed was the 004 Pump Handle. If NGC runs with these, that's important

Not sure if I have anything here, but I found a 2015 Homestead Quarter with what appears to be an 'L' shape to the right side on the cabin itself, in the wood grain....Anyone heard of this? Thanks.

I bought a roll of 2015 Nebraska homestead quarter all 40 have above the roof that definitely appears be be a major die crack error on all of them from left side all the way to the other. About 10 or so continue three the cornstalk. With that some have big metal Cud on the roof....some on the top window....some have Cuds on cornstalks. There are six of them that have all errors together. Let me know what you think. 4 months under my belt now so much to learn. , but I am learning alot. I also have had some really nice finds so fair. I will post them soon. Well looking forward to the feed back. Happy 4th to all... The first 2 photos are a coin without the die crack. Sorry for the pics. Can someone tell me why I have to keep coping till there nothing and blurrie..lol wow. Lol also 2 pics shouldn't be there can remove them.

Hello, I'm a newbie and joined site to help me have a full-understanding what to look for with coins.

I have a 2015 Homestead State Quarter.
I think I found a mint error on the back of the coin. I found a line or mark above the 2015 date.

When I found the mark, I assumed it was made after released to the public. However, the line continues underneath 0 of the year and the line clearly shows it was made when the mint made it.

I'm not sure if it's worth anything or just a cool coin.

Thanks

Shawn

Keep in mind the date and the other devices on the outside rim of the ATB (America The Beautiful) quarters are incuse. So when a scratch happens on an incuse design, the line looks like it flows behind the device. This is not the case. The scratch only affects the areas where the field is located. So a scratch will appear like it flows behind the devices.

On most coins the devices are raised. When we see a line behind these devices they are on the line because they are incuse on these devices on the die. (leaving the coins with raised devices)

Your thinking was partly correct, except for the incuse devices on the ATB Quarters reverses the effect on the coins.

Wow, thanks for bumping this thread! I can never forget the thrill I had when I found out I was the second person on earth to find a DDR-004... Thanks again for the bump!
