Is This Presidential Dollar An Error Coin?

Pillar802 New Member United States 8 Posts	Posted 03/26/2015 10:31 am Hello, I'm pretty new to this, but love coins. I found this yesterday and was wondering if anyone knew about it. It doesn't seem painted. The outside rim has it's edge lettering, which is gold colored, but the boarder looks silver. The back looks extra shiny like you would expect on a proof but it is Denver minted. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I looked online but haven't seen one like it. Thanks for your time! The manganese brass dollars are just that, manganese brass plated over a core of pure copper. I'm betting 100% it's not from the mint. Sanding should have produced a copper, rather than brass, color...definitely not silver colored. Probably some selective plating with some other metal (like silver), that'd be my best guess.
