since its dated May 4, 2005 I am going to say this didn't pass legislation or something. Just this statement alone in that "announcement" is crazy The U.S. Mint has designed a folder for collecting and displaying the county pennies. The cardboard murals, measuring 8 feet by 35 feet, will be available at most Walgreens stores, or directly from the Mint by mail for $4.95 plus $179 for postage and handling

Grovey,

If if comes from the onion, it's a joke. The county pennies program won't be happening any time in the near future.

Yes, it is a joke. The Onion is a satirical paper started at the Univ. Of Wisconsin (Madison). Personally, I thought it was pretty funny. I especially liked the suggested 8' x 35' collectors folder. Keep in mind that pre-Internet I had a subscription to the Onion delivered to me house. Go Packers!

The onion is great. They have free newspapers every thursday here in Chicago and that was one of my reasons to go to school. LOL. I read this one before and it's pretty funny to, but a bit dark: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28359
