God morning Childofthewheat I looked at other wheat pennies which did not look the same as this one. What does this mean? Quote: IMHO

Eva, To me this appears to be a normal 1944 cent which has seen heavy wear, causing the design devices to become flat. Sorry, but I do not see any doubling.

Keep in mind, Eva, the lettering punched into a die doesn't have vertical sides. They're kind of wedge-shaped, thinner at the deepest point (the top of the letter on the coin) than the base. So are the letters on the coin, and they appear thicker as they wear down because they are thicker.

I have to agree that is is a normal coin that circulation has altered the coin from the way it used to look. If it were a class 6 doubled die the devices would have been hubbed differently that normal and would not be thin like your coin that looks like circulation has flatten the devices making them look wider. Here is a side by side with the different class 6 doubled dies for this year. Not the 9 in the date is most often affected most. The 4's for this is also altered by the hubbing process.

I'm going to jump on the band wagon and agree it's not a "doubled die". You need to practice your coin pic taking skills and post less photos as well. I am saying this with all do respect. John1

When you find an earlobe lower on the coin than Abe's right nostril, it's probably doubled. If the coin is tilted like your first pic. There are many that appear doubled, but the overall size is an important consideration.

there is no harm done - in posting extra pictures. some of yours are not very helpfull in determining answers to your questions. I see no particular reason that you need to post fewer pictures with your questions, just maybe better quality images.

Post as many questions as one wants to,it's all the photos that take up disc space and if the pic isn't up to par then it is a real waste of disc space as well as the persons time taking the not so useful pics,IMHO. John1
