I needed a bust half for my type set and came across this one a couple of months ago at a coin show. For a coin this old, I think I was pretty fortunate to pick it up for $50. However, the damage on the reverse makes it clear why I got it at that price. For my type set, being able to fill this hole with a coin that isn't worn slick outweighed the scratches, so I was happy to get it. (They are so deep I feel that that "scratches" doesn't do them justice.)
So, how do you grade a coin like this? And even though I am happy with it, when you account for the scratches, was it a good price?

I know. I blew it and accidentally put it in the wrong forum. I can't figure out how to move it, though. Maybe a moderator can move it for me?

what a nice coin, I would say NO lower than a strong EF-45 with lost of luster, sadly it is a details coin for the deep graffiti. it is still a great example for the obverse type that I would be proud of.

I'd spend $50 to get it into the hands of someone who appreciated it.
