A local guy told me he had a Japanese Dansco type set
album. I set up a meeting with him today and picked it up.

It's not in perfect shape, smells a little musty and has
a small rip on first page.

I took some quick pictures to get some opinions.
I know it has been many years since Dansco made
this album. The newest dated hole is 1964.

It came with some coins. I hope to clean up
the album and look through my coin boxes to
see how many more holes I can fill.

Heard they were going to update it soon. Or at least that's what they said in 1964! (7070 - get it? )

Oh boy you have started a really hard challenge!

I have completed this a while ago. I have a scan of it online but for some reason cannot share it here due to some copyright issue.

Two most difficult coin will be 1870 5 sen and the Trade dollar coin. Best of luck!

Trade dollars as in this:

Might be easier to find if you are willing to go for damaged / chopmarked Trade dollar coins however they still cost a fair bit.

I did forget to mention that 1870 1 yen coin can be pricey, followed by the countermarked 1 yen coin. That said, the rest should be very, very affordable.

I'm still in the middle of redesigning a new version of Japanese album but just don't have enough time to do so. It's just too painstaking.

Gxseries ... I was only kidding about the ones for $2.00
they were fakes from China.

I like the looks of the one you have posted.

I agree there will be a few of these coins that will be harder
to find and more expensive. I know I have a small stack of
copper (bronze) and silver Japanese coins somewhere, I hope I can fill a couple holes.

I do have the Mexican type album .. and the two album Canadian.
So I thought this one would fit into my collection.

GR58 - I know what you mean When I bought mine, the album did come with a Trade dollar copy which I still own. I find Dansco's album really impressive despite made almost 50 years ago. I think I have a Fiji album and a New Guinea one. The New Guinea album can only be seen on one side. Not something I like but I bought it at a bargain.

There is a type set album that I have been looking which is the Hong Kong album. Been looking for it for a few years but I missed three opportunities as they went for absurd money. Otherwise I might as well design my own album. Just need to find a manufacturer.

I sent a PM about the link of the Japan Dansco album.

I found the japan type album through a friend that likes mostly older
Foreign coins.

He mentioned it months ago ... Glad I finally followed up on getting it.
