Unfortunately I have had no choice but to sign up and have my say before deleting this profile. APCGS originated from Australian Professional Coin Grading Services. There has been no piggy back ride from being close to PCGS's name nor was there any intent of using a name close to Pcgs abbreviation. I see some statements regarding changing our name would improve our business but in all honesty that is just rubbish. Personal supporters of any company will still continue to support what they have invested into. Isn't it funny (and I do see this a lot) people who suppose to "hate our company" don't even support any of the others. My way of thinking is, people who support companies do submit to them, not just buy cheap $10 slabs and believe they are a supporter. Regarding this Facebook auction, yes I did buy a incused MS grade 50c for $1006, I don't deny this at all. Did I use a fake ID, yes that is correct as well. I was approached by admin to use a different user name when buying items off Facebook due to people taking things the wrong way. People have to remember we have a big client base with people wanting certain items. In this case this item was purchased on behalf of a regular submitter to us. If he was a member he would have purchased it himself but he doesn't want to deal with the rubbish that is on Facebook. If it was for us to purchase, the item would be a heck of a lot dearer than $1006. Did the name get booted, that is incorrect. I chose to delete that profile. We grade to Australian standards, as stated on our website, not Sheldon. I also see in posts here "the time is near" "they won't make Christmas" etc etc. We are the longest serving TPG company that has ever operated in Australia, racking up 5 yrs next month. We primarily target the next generation of coin collectors coming into our industry. This has rapidly increased submissions to our company and will continue to rise in the future. No use looking at ebay to see how our slabs compare to competitors, there has been a massive decline in people purchasing through this company. Facebook is now rapidly dominating the buying and selling of any items. Apcgs decimal coin slabs outperform any other TPG company slabs on Facebook and this is a fact. Personally I don't like Facebook but have to move with the future with what people use. Pre decimals do labour a bit but this market is very weak and in my opinion it is a dying market, literally. Submissions through us are at 80/20 decimal v pre decimal and the gap is widening rapidly. The new generation just don't seem to be interested in collecting pre decimal items. One last thing, APCGS does slab and sell coins, but only to support a Charity on Facebook, so if you are that heartless and believe that this is wrong, then your are an outright goose. I think I have covered most basis in this and won't be making anymore comments on this post.

Good to see you under your real name for a change :)
As for $10 slabs I'm betting that is aimed at me, I sell these to make money then use that to buy coins for my collection so my wife doesn't kill me for spending a couple of grand on a coin. Its alot of work yes but margins are good.
You won't see me selling my collection coins on facebook as the buyers on there are newbies and will pay through the roof for common mint stuff and peanuts for a truly rare coin. I submitted over 100 coins to you and would have over my time submitted the same or more to PCGS for my personal collection. You are right though cheap coins slabbed with APCGS do sell on facebook (although they shouldn't) and you can make money off it even with the consistency over time being so poor. Bidding on a coin you graded under a fake name for a "client" though is just extremely dodgy. Open and honest is the key, posting this under your real name is a start but you have dug a deep hole I'm not sure you can climb out of anymore.

Unfortunately the 80/20 split and falling numbers of pre -decimals graded by APCGS is due to the reducing level
of confidence in APCGS to be able to grade these coins properly. This is just common sense as predec coin sales
remain buoyant at other auction sites so this definately tells a story

Well it's nice to see you here Shane , well done on winning that coin for your client I hope you mention to him/her that you were encouraging others to bid using your other real ID after your fake ID had bids.

I have submitted hundreds of coins to pcgs mainly predecimals, I am still buying, and when I do sell they sell very well, I am not sure your 80/20 means diddy squat in the real world of TPG .

Oh what a tangled web. $10 is certainly a bargain for a PCGS slabbed coin, I bought a couple and was happy with the purchase. Cheap but not cheap and nasty.

r9453, PCGS or A-PCGS? It's easy to confuse the more-established PCGS with A-PCGS, which is not related to PCGS in any way.

$10 for a genuine PCGS slab is indeed a bargain, as the grading fee alone is more than that.

Bulldust, Your entire operation is a "Clone" of PCGS

That is probably because the NGC/PCGS graded coins are being sold via auction houses and ebay and the APCGS graded coins simply cannot compete with a genuinely graded coin at these venues.

On what information/data do you arrive at that assumption ?
Yes there was a price correction after the demise of the rare coin company But the market is still quite Buoyant.

Aw come on , Do you really expect us to believe that EVERY coin you have graded for yourself you have given the funds to Charity

I don't think I saw any APCGS coins at the ANDA show in Sydney. A few NGC but mostly PCGS.

the fact that there were no APCGS coins for sale at the sydney ANDA fair proves what the public thinks about this backyard operation , they have not been accepted by the public and are merely a speed bump in the road to market domination by the big time players and kings of TPG PCGS

just for you shano http://www.amazon.com/Official-Guid...it+detection , and the price is cheap , grab yourself a copy and take my advice and learn how to grade, shut down that fake pretend TPG apcgs and then come back in a few years under another name and maybe you have a chance to take .0001 % of the aussie market

That's one of the best books to read on grading.
