Yesterday I acquired three boxes of bank-rolled half dollars at the branch where I have found many silver coins this Summer. I found my first silver "double ender" roll in one box, and another silver ender in the second box. So I anticipated finding about 25 more silver half dollars in those two boxes. Nope. I found only nine 40% silver half dollars and one 1964 Kennedy half dollar after opened the rolls in those two boxes. The third box yielded nothing valuable. I am more convinced than ever that for some reason the number of silver enders in a half dollar box does not provide a good estimate of how many more silver coins it contains. Sampling 10% of the population should yield a statistically-reasonable estimate of the properties of the entire set if the properties are randomly distributed -- which apparently is not the case for bank-rolled half dollars.

Very nice finds. Quite a haul. I just finished a box and only found 1 1964P and gold tone 1983 counter-stamped 1960 left field and 1980 right field.

I found a proof collection "dump" today in a box of Brinks half dollars that I asked a bank on Cape Cod to order for me. Two rolls had proof "enders". I found a total of 15 proof coins in this box (but no silver coins). These coins obviously didn't circulate much before they were rolled because most of them are nearly pristine. This suite also has no duplicate coins, and the ones that I found account for almost half of the proof coins issued between 1971 and 2002.

OK - simple question. I read JFK Half dollars made after 2002 were never intended for circulation. So if you find any from later than that do they have any value over face value. I am guessing not... Maybe someone who wants to collect a whole "set" of half dollars might pay a buck or two for them? (probably not that much) So I was just asking. I got $900 worth of half dollars yesterday from the bank. - opened $50 worth tonight. $40 was 2023 dates mostly P mint marks, and a few D's. I found one 2021 coin... all the rest were 2001 or prior. I was going to rewrap them as I go through them and take them back to the band, or are these worth anything. I was mainly looking for errors, and of course these coins all look in very good condition since they are so new. Did NOT find and "S" mint marks. Thoughts? - THANKS

They were technically still intended for circulation, but the Fed had enough in stock to give the banks, so starting in 2002 they did not order any from the Mint. They only minted enough too meet collector demand and became de facto NIFC. However, the Fed began ordering them somewhat regularly the past few years. https://goccf.com/t/437608&whichpage=12#3899234
