I worked $2001 (4 boxes plus $1 loose) Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, the first box was all brand new 1996d so they all got dumped. The other box had 1 1973s. That was all I found in the first 2 boxes. Of the 2 loose halves, one was a 40%. Today I worked the second 2 boxes. First box had 1 1964 Kennedy, 10 40%, a 1974d DDO, a 1973d DDO, a 1982p no initials on reverse, a 1986p that had been gold plated (most has worn off) that is counterstamped 1960-1985, and a 1972d Kennedy that has been gold plated and none of the plating has worn off....it's almost perfect(other than the plating LOL). I haven't searched the last box for 1971-1974 DDOs but will either Saturday night or Sunday. I'll let you know if I find anything good in them

Gramps, I love the idea of taking ice cream to the bank employees. My Mother worked her way up from teller to VP for 25 years. "You give a little, you get a little". I wonder if Crispy Cremes would share the same reluts? lol. Great Postings BTW!

Well, I looked back thru the 1971-1974s and didn't find any DDOs, but it was still a good group of coins to work thru. I'm thinking I may have to slow down a little....working $2000-$2500 a week is just taking quite a bit of time LOL Yes, taking ice cream of doughnuts to the tellers is a quick way to make them your friends....and they really don't run to the back when they see you walk in

On a trip to Alabama over the 4th, I was lucky to find a bag of loose halves at a small bank in KY of $850 face. Also a few more rolls along the way. The results: (49) 40%, (4) 90%, (1) '74-D DDO, and several '82, '83, '85, '86 P&D's in great condition. There still out there, but we have to look a little harder now.

Just curious, what do you guys do with the DDOs and the 82 P no initials? I know they are mint errors, and kinda cool to keep, but have any of you sold / traded them at local dealers? Are they really worth keeping?

well, sadly we haven't found any DDOs or no initials yet.....I think if we do find them and find multiples, we'll treat them like we do the silver....keep the nicest 1 or 2 and use the rest for trading material to acquire the silver proofs, which I highly doubt will show up in any bank rolls.

Terror, The best thing about searching rolls is, you never know what your going to find. One of the first boxes I went through, several months ago had (42) clad proofs. All were in great shape, so they were not in circulation very long. One can only guess how they ended up in rolls. Before that I've gotten a few in single rolls. So, since people put clad into circulation, why not Silver? Keep searching. Happy hunting! MFHORN

Went thru my best box of halves in years last night after several weeks of a dry spell. I found 105- 40% halves and two 2008D halves. It pays to hang in there.

When selling your silver, does that mean sold in order to melt down? Referring specifically to Gramps post: Quote: Once you have appx $100 face in 40%ers (or you can do a mixture of 40%-90%) you need to find someone and SELL THOSE SILVERS! (I know, about 1/3 of the readers of this thread just had chills down their spines! ) I'm sure you probably don't want to do this but what you are doing in generating working capital.

It definitely does pay to hang in there....We worked another $100 yesterday and found a gorgeous 1978-S...aside from a few small marks on the face, it's perfect! We also found some beautiful gem pieces from the 1980's, including 4 1983-Ps and a 1989-D that would probably go 67 or 68 if slabbed.

Hello All I worked 1 box this afternoon. I had 125 40%ers, 7 90%ers (all 64's), a 2005p, and a 1976 SILVER proof (my first...yeah!!). I have another box waiting for me at the bank so I hope to get them before the weekend...will take some doing as I am working all day tomorrow. As for the above question about selling 40%ers, when I sell they are usually going to be sold for melting. I have considered selling them here on the site but most aren't going to want to pay $2.00-$2.50 each plus shipping.....and although I used to sell on ebay I just don't want to start that up again. Hope that helps and if you have any other questions just let me know Gramps oh, gotta have a happy dance for this box (LOL)

I picked up the second box from the bank and worked it tonight. I found 2 90%, one being a 1941 Walker, 13 40%ers, and a 2001s clad proof, and a possible 1972d no fg on reverse....I'll have pictures later tomorrow evening. All in all a good week I'll go thru the 71-74 looking for DDOs tomorrow
