i found 2 more dump banks today! Went to two new banks today and they both said they had over $500.00 in halves in the vault. I took a hundred dollars worth anyhow from each bank and didn't get squat. Did get a 2005P from a teller tray.

stopped at 7 banks today and picked up $18.00 worth of halves......wasted effort. Looks like I need to find a new searching area for awhile.

Last 6 fed boxes only yielded 2-40%. I would rather have gone out to the local pawn shop and purchased them instead of doing all the work of searching and returning them. It has been a long time since I got a good box. I keep hoping!

Well if it was too easy, there would be a 4 hour long line at the bank to get the boxes.

I'm presently half way thru a box, and have found a '82P (no FG) and a '74D DDO, first one in over a year. Also came across a 2005 P&D and 2006D that have smiley faces next to Kennedy. I don't understand why someone would turn a NIFC back into circulation.

I'm new to this, I saw the thread and thought I might as well give it a try. I went out searching for coins, but it seems like 3/4 of the banks don't carry half dollars any more.

The first bank that actually did had 3 customer-wrapped rolls, containing 2 1964 and 14 1965-1969. Needles to say, I am hooked. My luck ended after that, though, with over $160 in halves from other banks containing no silver at all. I think that I might try my luck with the $500 boxes. Any advice on which banks are helpful in ordering them for free?

bkcoin153,

First of all.....

to the Community!

Your bank should be happy to order them for you! If not, any bank in your area, with the possible exception of smaller ones, will do it, perhaps for a very small ($5 or so) fee. If your own bank won't do it, perhaps it might be time for you to find a new bank!
Rest in Peace

Would be nice if the $500 boxes were new 2008 or 2009 since the mintage on these is extremely low.
