about the size of a nickel (21mm) but thin like a dime (3.1 grams)

listed as "canadian farthing" however bust (at least the nose) looks a little more like a young Philippe I

any insight greatly appreciated

The figure is the Duke of Wellington (hence the name "Wellington Farthing" of Canada).

thanks Philly, I just ran across a wellington token and was about to update my post. I knew I had seen that bust somewhere (too many tokens, not enough memory!)

Compare to this 1830 medal of Wellington and Sir Robert Peel, that was probably the progenitor:

once again coin collecting has led to a history lesson!

Wellington forced to resign as Prime Minister in 1830 (replaced by Earl Grey)

I wonder if this token is in support of Wellington or supporting his resignation?

The Canadian Wellington series is something I planned to work on in the near future, this should fit as a nice oddity.
