On the reverse of one of my W silver dimes, there is a small divot just to the right of the top laurel leaf. I thought it might be the capsule, but after releasing the coin from its protection there is a mark on the dime. URGH!
Still debating what to do with it, return or keep.

I noticed this with the Francisco eagle sets that I returned, maybe one coin out of ten was worth submitting, and if I remember, that one set looked untouched, all the other sets you could see had been fingered, touched, had dirt/dust on it, been exposed to humidity somewhere, quality effected at so many levels. I swore I would never buy into a QA scenario, but I did. I really think I'll have to open all the sets and do a visual before considering grading, will lose the label designations but the risk of being sent bad product in for grading vs. back to the mint sounds better to me. Quote: For an example of what I'm talking about, watch the coin show on Home Shopping Network. They sell most coins for about three times what they can be purchased for on ebay. Therefore, I think the coins purchased on HSN represent a poor value based on what people pay there. Based on the logic you propose, they're worth the price paid simply because someone pays it. Perhaps to them, but not to me. They'll find out for sure when they try to sell their HSN coin purchases. Gotcha! ...and re: returned sets...last year the Mint reported that they DO resell the returned sets. This is why it takes FOREVER to actually get a "sold out" status now. They have to wait for delivery, return grace period, shipping back of the product, acceptance of the return, reship of that return..rinse and repeat. Eventually, I guess, someone is just happy to get this 2nd or 3rd generation return and keeps it.

My set arrived today. This truly is a nice looking set. I would agree that the capsules are scratched up more than normal. No obvious scratches or marks on my coins, except on little tick mark on FDR's chin on the W dime.

My two sets arrived as well. I'm happy with both - my only complaint at this time is the scratches on the capsules in one set. The coins themselves seem to be fine.

I remember the big hoopla about the waiting room and mintage limits and dealer hoarding etc about the SF set back in 2012 but I managed to pick these up for $127 shipped which is less than I paid for my 2013 West Point sets from the mint I hope this is not a trend for the "special finish" issues given the fallout from the gold Kennedy ANA show "Special" label hype.

I agree on the label Jack, I've never seen so many panda labels, sticker, ink, plastic, the storage is still such a pain with these things but not as bad as the whole COA. Here is an order from around 6:00 Central today. USM03244584

The 70's sell for $350-375 I submitted 10 sets back then and got 8 1/2 70's back...

No limit equals feeding frenzy. Looks like the set could sell out after all.
