Quote: For what it's worth, the dude on the Home Shopping Network said that the reverse proofs are hardest to get graded a 70. He claimed that ANACS had so far only certified 1/10 as 70. On a positive note contrary to the ANACS bashers (not me) and HSN network bashers (you can count me in on this one) it appears that ANACS is standing their ground and not filling a "quota" buy calling substandard coins 70's. Working in the lawn and garden industry I can remember the last season before Tecumseh engines went out of business in 2009 that after they ran out of enough 1st rate / within tolerance / etc engines it appeared they went to the piles of 2nd string reject castings etc to fill the quotas they had contractually agreed to as a last ditch effort to stay afloat. Less than a year later after they went bankrupt there were a lot of throw connecting rods which were initially blamed on "operator error" by the end manufacturer who used said faulty product until the truth came out.

Re: ANACS ....it's a fine company and I have used them for variety grading...but...purely on a resale basis they will always be behind PCGS and NGC price wise. They also suffer from both the impression of being the HSN darlings and for being a bit more lenient with the grades. History has showed PCGS to be the sticklers for getting a 70 grade with NGC not far behind... ...with that said I find two things strange about the ANACS comment: 1) PCGS POP early report shows 97 reverse proof dimes graded with 41 getting the 70 grade (also 47/100 PFs)...so only a meager 10% from ANACS makes zero sense 2) "claimed to have had almost 10,000 sets"...wow! lots of friends (2000) or not that is probably near 1/3 of ALL sets available before backorder status went in. also makes zero sense Just my opinion....

There are a whole lot of people who bought multiple sets (often more then the max by using multiple cards and addresses) who already planned to flip them to the dealers (or bought them under contract for the dealers) and all those sets funneled upstream from the "friends" to the dealers, to the TV marketers. You get a large enough supply network and I could see them getting their hands on 10K sets fairly quickly.

Hmmmm... My back ordered sets weren't supposed to ship until August, but I just got notification from the mint that they have just shipped. I'm a happy camper!

Never count on the backordered ship dates on hot products. They are just a placeholder. I figured the next batch would be ready by the end of the month, but this is good news. Anybody that ordered within the first three hours on 5/04 should see some movement. Good luck all!

That is good news, I thought August sounded crazy (I ordered about 12:20 that day). I have not received the shipping notice yet but I did see where that amount from the mint was charged on my credit card this morning...so I should see a shipping email soon. Either way I will get it when I get it. :)

With all the cherry picking, I would say yes the secondary market will definitely take a hit. How will most sets be played?, it would seem that opening the set and only sending the dimes in if they look like they will come back 70 is one way, otherwise you grade the whole set and the 69 sets are only going for around $120
