I just saw this set certified by ANACS PF-70 on HSN for $369.95 + $10.95 S&H. It does come with a three slab presentation box though. Aren't there laws against taking advantage of the elderly?

Last (yesterday) completed selling price for a NGC 70 set was $358.53, PCGS $351.95 (no presentation box for either set)

NGC 69 set $130

Raw $93-95 range

No need to call out the Feds....no elderly abuse here

Hmmm I might just have to get a 70 set with all this interest... does anyone think the reverse proof will jump in the future like the 98 kennedy matte or 95w ASE?

I was sitting on an opportunity to buy several 70 s at $240 but once the market gets flooded the price will drop. I don't believe any Of the big online companies have them available yet. This is just the initial ebay craze because there's only a few available right now

I bought one of the NGC 70 sets when Pinehurst had them at $229 (I missed them at the $219 price they had for about a day). I figure there's not much downside risk at that price.

I saw that price at Pinehurst also, but missed it. Like stev18, I also think at current price, we will see a drop and some stabilization of the 70 sets. They will rise in the future but we should see some ceiling/floor price first, this to establish the support price for them.

I will wait patiently for a chance to get a graded set in the $250 range.

Is there a POP report out yet for the dimes or the dollars?

It seems that more than a few here have reported problems with the coins they received so there would have to be more than a few "lesser" grade coins due to the blind submission rules to get the "fancy label"

How did everyone get the coins out of the box without scratching up the cases? What should I look for to tell if my set would grade 70 or not? Thanks!

I just got the NGC grades for the two sets I sent in blind. Everything came back 70 UC except the reverse proof dimes. Both of those came back 69.

I have never used it. I just create an appointment in my calendar and set an appropriate reminder.

PCGS website says "The package mailed to PCGS has a postmark date prior to the PCGS cutoff date for that particular coin/issue. Only the coins need to be mailed to PCGS and received within the first 30 days of issue." So does this mean that only the dimes will grade first strike? But, at least you can inspect your coins and not submit blind.

That's a good question. The cutoff date for the MOD Special Set is not even listed on their website yet.
http://www.pcgs.com/firststrike/
I think it's possible that if you ship it to them in the unopened box you can get the MOD Special Set First Strike designation on the dollar, but I'm not sure. Calling them first strike to begin with when they're not necessarily one is already pushing the limits of the English language, but calling a dollar in the MOD Special Set a first strike would be beyond all reason. I hope they don't do that. Perhaps someone here who has done it can educate us.

I start dislike PCGS from the day they started the "First Strike" designation. I didn't renew my membership with them since. Others may like it, each to his own.

All three coins are eligible for first strike and the FDR Set label only if sent unopened. If the set is sent after opening only the dimes will get the FS and the FDR label...the Dollar will get a regular label (not FS, not FDR set)

For what it's worth, the dude on the Home Shopping Network said that the reverse proofs are hardest to get graded a 70. He claimed that ANACS had so far only certified 1/10 as 70. They were selling nine hundred and something sets, so he claimed to have had almost 10k sets. I'm just wondering where he gets that many sets when there was a limit of only 5 per household for most of the time. Perhaps they bought a big block when the limit was lifted. He also mentioned that the mint was having QC problems with the set which we've seen in our discussion here.
