Lightly cleaned or not, this is a nice coin with good eye appeal and you don't see a lot of Seated dollars floating around, especially in a nicer VF/XF grade. I'd have no problem giving this coin a loving home!

XF45. Guess I should sell this one rather than keep it. Tough to find these problem free, and this is a better date.

Don't let others opinions dictate what you collect. You are 100% correct that Seated dollars are tough to find problem-free, not to mention very expensive in XF on up. Your coin has a lot going for it and is worth a sizable chunk of change.

On another note - It seems like half a century of "bright is best" took a toll on some series' more than others and Seated S$1 are often found sans patina. So often that TPG pretty much ignore it unless it's abrasively cleaned. Anyways, some toning/patina is back in fashion and that's a good thing. Thanks for sharing your coin with us!

This series is VERY hard to find without cleanings. (Just take a quick look at the archives on Great Collections). Yes, I also believe this coin has been cleaned, but it isn't a particularly harsh cleaning and still looks decent.

Lightly cleaned in the past. Still appropriately graded. If it had original surfaces it would
probably be graded an AU 50 or 53. Very scarce coins in the higher AU grades with original
surfaces. Just check out some of the prices realized in Heritages archives for CAC AU 55 & 58
pieces. IMO just a great series. Superb design, a large coin (easy on this mans old eyes) and
a challenge to find with attractive original surfaces.

I've seen these coins get grades problem free even though they were harshly cleaned.
