As a Philadelphian, I can attest that, for many years, historical tourist sites across the Eastern Seaboard sold these replicas of the Continental Dollar, the proposed dollar coin of the Continental Currency. Only a relatively small number of original pattern pieces were made, mainly in tin; the Continental Congress were too cash-poor to put out anything but paper money (see my avatar). This replica is rather crude; you can't even read the motto beneath the sundial: MIND YOUR BUSINESS. Report this Post to the Staff
