Either it was here or Ctalk, but I saw someone found a worn out 1867 no rays one.

That'd be my dream.
1892 is my oldest.

I'm sure somebody here has even though that would be a fairly amazing find. However, I have found both a buffalo and liberty head in circulation so I am kinda maxed out of crazy circulation finds. Likely won't top the liberty head.

I don't like them. Only the CCF members there are nice. A few exceptions. My experience there was pretty bad when I started collecting.

No sheilds. Only a worn buff.

I remember just carl mentioning a while back he remembers seeing them in circulation from time to time during childhood. So depending who you ask, if it was long ago I'm sure quite a few have.

Yes, I found a 1867 Shield nickel a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure I put a picture up somewhere.

That still looks pretty good, all things considered. Especially compared to buffaloes

Not sure if any modern CRH collector will ever again find a Shield nickel .. the issue being modern automated coin roll sorting machines.

The Shield nickel has the same nominal weight ... 5.0 grams ... as the entire Cu/Ni series to date ... but is smaller in diameter (20.5mm vs 21.2mm) and thicker as a result.

I suspect that coin roll sorting machines will reject them ... so perhaps the best opportunity is to check the reject slot.

I personally would enjoy hearing from anyone who has found an example in recent CRH.

While it is unlikely, that is the kind of thing you would find in a customer wrapped roll. I find foreign coins and dimes in cent rolls all the time.

No, there was another one.

It wasn't on CTalk, it was on T-net.

forums/coin-roll-hunting/282120-shield-nickel-find.html

on T-net. Not sure if T-Net links are allowed here.
