How does that work geographically? I thought being close to the Canberra mint meant that the newest coins are always out first.

G'day, Aha ! That's one of "The BIG Mysteries*" [*probably second-only to: the self-chilling beer-can, patented in 1979, but not yet commercially released.] Peter in Darwin

Here is the photo if you didn't check out the other thread that I've posted this in. These coins aren't a myth I've sent all the spares I have but I'll look for better ones if it is in acute shortage.

I haven't seen any here in Gippsland (near Melbourne for those who are unaware). I have been looking out for one for a while now but nothing and I search through a minimum $400 worth a week.

gx, The 50¢ coins arrived today. Thanks very much. If you find you have a surplus of them, let me know.
Thanks for the little surprise, is it Russian?

I'm sure it is one of them, justabeginner. To be exact, the bottom left coin as I remember it had a terrible scar on the background. Nancyc, I'll let you know when I get a large surplus of them. I just pulled another one today. Yes, the little coin that I've sent is Russian - I collect quite a wide diversity of Russian coins.

My supplies dried up!! Doh! Maybe it was just one bag of 2007 50 cents that arrived in one of the banks and since then, piles of 2006 50cent coins are waiting.
